College
I kept up with painting in college, while pursuing a degree a mathematics at UC Berkeley. A year of studying abroad at Marchutz School of Art in Aix-en-Provence, France marked a pivotable moment in my artist trajectory. My understanding of painting shifted from representing reality with a cold exactitude to an immense appreciation of art history, philosophy, and personal observation and expression. I began to enjoy copying after Turner, Hokusai, Daumier, and Rembrandt.
